Matthew Perry admitted to Jimmy Kimmel that as a child in school, he actually beat up the now-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

MATTHEW PERRY ADMITS TO BEATING UP JUSTIN TRUDEAU

Though the former Friends star was born in Massachusetts, he was raised by his mother in Ontario after his parents divorced. His mother, Suzanne Marie Langford, was a Canadian journalist and former press secretary to then-Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Therefore, it is not as surprising that Perry and Trudeau attended the same school.

“My friend Chris Murray who was also in the fifth grade in Canada reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau,” said Perry, embarrassed. “We both beat him up. I think he was excelling in a sport, so it was just pure jealousy.”

Kimmel pointed out that Trudeau’s father was Prime Minister at the time, and Perry explained, “I don’t think that’s the reason we beat him up, I think he was the only kid in school that we could beat up.” Perry continued, “I’m not bragging about this, this is terrible, I was a stupid kid, I didn’t want to beat him up, in fact I think at one point I tried to turn it into love play.”

“I think I was rather instrumental in him going to such great heights and becoming the Prime Minister,” Perry concluded. “I think he said, ‘I’m gonna rise above this and I’m gonna become Prime Minister.'”
