‘My Friend Dahmer’ Trailer Shows Creepy Origin Of Serial Killer
The first trailer for the upcoming film My Friend Dahmer was released over the weekend. The new film takes a look at the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer before his name frightened the country on national headlines.
My Friend Dahmer, based on the graphic novel by a man who grew up with Dahmer in the ’70s Derf Backderf, observes the serial killer before he made his first kill. The film explores his high school life as a shy, alcoholic, teen outcast with few friends.

The film stars Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally) as Jeffrey Dahmer and is quite a departure from his Disney Channel career. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Lynch noted that he hadn’t heard of Dahmer until he was approached by the film’s producers. Still, he decided to take the risk.
“I thought it was awesome to just be unpredictable,” Lynch told the publication. “Hopefully my next role could be something that most people won’t expect from me.”
Dahmer is considered one of America’s most notorious serial killers, primarily because of the twisted nature of his killings. From 1978 until his arrest in 1991, Dahmer killed at least 17 men and boys. Many of those killings involved necrophilia and cannibalism.
My Friend Dahmer also stars Vincent Kartheiser, Alex Wolff and Dallas Roberts.
