Fred Willard Fired For Lewd Behavior

Following Emmy nominee Fred Willard’s arrest for alleged lewd behavior in a Hollywood adult theater, PBS promptly announced on Thursday that the septuagenarian actor and comedian would no longer do the voice-over for the network’s Antiques Roadshow spinoff, Market Warriors.

Officer Bruce Borihanh of the LAPD confirmed that Willard was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly committing a lewd act in an X-rated movie theater on Wednesday night. "With all due respect to the individual officer," Willard’s attorney told ABC News, "our belief is that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law. We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter."

Whether or not Willard is ultimately convicted, PBS has already taken immediate and seemingly irrevocable action. "Given the unfortunate news reported today, effective immediately, Fred Willard no longer will be involved with the Market Warriors series," a representative for WGBH, the Boston public broadcaster that produces the show, said in a statement. “It’s something we felt was important to decide, and given the trust of our audiences, we wanted to move forward,” the representative concluded without further explanation. Willard will be replaced by Mark Walberg on Market Warriors.

Although he may be out of a television job, Willard is rumored to be appearing in the forthcoming film The Yank, according to IMDb.

Willard is best known for his roles in Best in Show, Anchorman, and WALLE, as well as a string of recent guest appearances on hit series such as Modern Family, Castle, and Franklin & Bash.
