Frank Ocean Tears Vocal Cords, Cancels Tour

Frank Ocean was forced to cancel his sold out Australian tour after discovering he was suffering from a tear in his vocal cords.

Ocean sought medical attention after the opening night of his tour on the island. During his performance, he had noticeably struggled to get through his vocals, reported The Huffington Post. When it was determined that Ocean’s vocal cords had suffered a tear, it was advised that he cancel the rest of his Australian tour to enable them to mend.

"After last night's concert… it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show,” promoter Live Nation said in a statement. “It has subsequently been confirmed that Frank has suffered a small tear to one of his vocal cords and has received medical advice that he must rest his voice."

Ocean’s Australian mini-tour was planned around his scheduled appearance at Splendour in the Grass on Sunday. When two extra tour dates sold out in a matter of minutes, a third day had been added. Although Ocean won’t be playing at Splendour, Mumford & Sons, The National and TV on the Radio are set to hit the stage.

Ocean has been touring on the tracks off his Grammy-nominated album channel ORANGE, and has been debuting new songs as well. On a tour stop in Munich in June, Ocean performed three never-before-heard tracks.
