Frances McDormand Howls During ‘Nomadland’ Acceptance Speech

Nomadland received the highest honor at the 93rd annual Academy Awards when the film won Best Picture.

While she kept her Best Actress acceptance speech short, while accepting Best Picture with filmmaker Chloé ZhaoFrances McDormand urged everyone watching to go to movie theater again once they open back up and it’s safe to go. “Please watch our movie on the largest screen possible and one day, take everyone you know into a theater shoulder-to-shoulder in that dark space and watch every film represented tonight,” McDormand said.

“We give this one to our wolf,” she added as she proceeded to howl, a nod to her character in Nomadland.
