Frances Bean Cobain, the 23-year-old daughter of the Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994, and Courtney Love, is filing for divorce from her husband, Isaiah Silva, the frontman for The Eeries. As a part of the proceedings, she has made a request to keep all of her father’s $450 million inheritance.
France Bean did not sign a prenuptial agreement, so California law appears to be on her side. Silva could be awarded any of the assets that they bought when they were married, but the inheritance is seen as the sole property of Cobain. Cobain has also indicated that she’s willing to pay spousal support.
Cobain cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. They have no children together. Although they were married for less than two years, they had been in a relationship together for five years.
Cobain was spotted this morning, the first time since the divorce news surfaced earlier this week. She seemed to be trying to keep her appearance low profile with dark sunglasses and hair in a ponytail.
