Four young men painted their bodies blue, put on floppy knit hats and allegedly beat up a man while also attempting to hot-wire a car outside a convenience store in Melbourne, Australia.
After the quartet of Smurfs paid for their items at the store counter, they approached a 37-year-old man who had just purchased cigarettes, according to police reports. When the store customer refused to hand them over a lit cigarette, the man outfitted as Papa Smurf began to beat him. Allegedly, the three other Smurfs were concurrently attempting to hot-wire a parked car.
The group dressed as characters from the 80s cartoon were made up of three 19-year-old men, and one 18-year-old man. They have since turned themselves in and will face assault charges, according to the Herald Sun. –Chelsea Regan
