Police have arrested four suspects in relation to the killing of Johnny Wactor, a former General Hospital actor, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Thursday.
Three 18-year-old males face murder charges: Robert Barceleau of Huntington Park, Leonel Gutierrez and Sergio Estrada, both from Los Angeles County. A fourth suspect, Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood, was charged for helping in the crime.
The arrests followed the execution of multiple search warrants across Los Angeles earlier in the day. Legal representation for the accused has yet to be confirmed.
Wactor, 33, was fatally shot on May 25 after finishing his shift at a local bar. According to police reports, he encountered three individuals attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle. The actor was reportedly shot without provocation while trying to protect a female colleague.
The incident has sparked calls for more decisive action against crime in the city. During a press conference on Tuesday, Wactor’s mother, Scarlett, appealed to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and District Attorney George Gascón to reinforce the criminal justice system.
“Grief is my constant companion,” Scarlett Wactor told reporters, highlighting the personal toll of the tragedy.
Earlier this month, law enforcement released images of the suspects and the stolen black Infiniti Q50 Sedan used as a getaway vehicle. One suspect was described as having distinctive facial tattoos.
Friends and colleagues remember Wactor fondly. Micah Parker, a close friend, described him as “one of the best men I’ve ever known” during an emotional June press conference. Those who knew him emphasized the actor’s selfless act of protecting his co-worker in his final moments.
Wactor had a recurring role on General Hospital from 2020 to 2022 and appeared in other television series, including Criminal Minds and Westworld. The General Hospital team expressed their sorrow on social media, calling Wactor “one of a kind.”
The actor’s manager praised Wactor’s professionalism and kindness, stating, “He pursued his dreams and achieved them, all the while remaining a good human being caring for others.”
Mayor Bass responded to the arrests, emphasizing the need for accountability in such “brazen and heinous” acts.
