General John Kelly, former President Donald Trump‘s White House chief of staff, confirmed several disturbing stories about his former boss.
Kelly said he witnessed Trump make disparaging comments about United States veterans and service members on several different occasions.
“A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them,” he told CNN, referring to Trump’s comments.
Kelly went on to say that Trump did not want to be seen with military amputees because “it doesn’t look good for me,” as well as showing contempt for Gold Star families. Kelly also stated that Trump refused to visit the graves of American soldiers in France because “it’s filled with losers.”
“God help us,” Kelly concluded.
Kelly’s statements confirm many details included in a 2020 article published in The Atlantic.
Following the release of these statements, Trump called out Kelly in a Truth Social post. The former president claimed Kelly made up these stories, calling him “the dumbest of my Military people” and that Kelly is “confirming the made up stories of the Dems and Radical Left. . .”
Last week, Trump told reporters that there would be violence if he was convicted in any of his four criminal trials.
