Comedian Pete Davidson has entered a wellness facility to focus on his mental health.
The Saturday Night Live alum, known for his candid approach to discussing personal struggles, has prioritized his well-being following an intense period of professional activity. Over the past several months, Davidson performed more than 200 stand-up shows, a schedule that may have contributed to his decision to seek treatment.
This isn’t the first time Davidson has taken steps to address his mental health. The 30-year-old performer has been open about his previous experiences with therapy and rehabilitation, having sought treatment multiple times since childhood. In a 2018 interview, Davidson revealed he had been “in and out of mental health facilities” since the age of 9.
Davidson’s representatives have not officially commented on the recent development. However, insiders report that maintaining sobriety has been a key focus for the comedian over the past year.
The King of Staten Island star has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He has spoken publicly about these conditions, often incorporating his experiences into his comedy routines. In 2017, Davidson discussed his BPD diagnosis on a podcast, describing it as initially challenging but ultimately enlightening.
“When somebody finally tells you the diagnosis, the weight of the world feels lifted off your shoulders. You feel so much better,” Davidson said in a 2021 interview, reflecting on how understanding his condition has helped him.
Mental health advocacy has become a significant part of Davidson’s public persona. By sharing his struggles and treatment journey, he has contributed to broader conversations about mental health awareness in the entertainment industry and beyond.
As news of Davidson‘s current treatment surfaced, it was reported that he had canceled several upcoming performances, including shows in Florida and New Jersey. These cancellations align with his history of prioritizing mental health care when necessary. In his show, he was open about his addiction to ketamine.
