Former MTV star Connor Smith was arrested after being on the run for one year.
Smith, known for his appearance on the dating show Are You The One? in 2015, fled from authorities after Illinois police put out an arrest warrant. Police tried to arrest Smith after the reality star allegedly planned to meet with a minor for sex, who was an undercover detective. Smith allegedly sent sexually explicit photos and videos through online messaging.
While Smith prepared to meet the minor, police came to his home. Smith was able to escape. Police issued a nationwide arrest warrant in February 2023. Smith had three felonies attached to his name: traveling to meet a minor, grooming and disseminating harmful material.
In 2021, Smith was arrested for rape and assault against a minor. The minor, 16 years old at the time, said Smith attacked her and physically abused her when they met up. The charges were dropped in 2022 after the minor stopped cooperating with authorities.
Smith was arrested in Clearwater, Florida, and is being held in custody without bond.
