Former GOP House Speaker John Boehner Joins Board Of Marijuana Producer Acreage Holdings

Former Republican House speaker John Boehner has joined the advisory board for Acreage Holdings, a private marijuana producer.

 

In 2011 Boehner said he was “utterly opposed” to marijuana, now he says his “thinking has evolved.” He tweeted the announcement that he has joined the Acreage Holding board on Wednesday morning. “I’m joining the board of Acreage Holdings because my thinking on cannabis has evolved. I’m convinced de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities.”
