Former Eagles’ Star Jason Kelce Says He Lost His Super Bowl Championship Ring In A Chili-Filled Pool
Jason Kelce, a key player in the Philadelphia Eagles’ memorable Super Bowl LII victory, recently shared an unusual story about the loss of his cherished Super Bowl ring.
Kelce and his brother, Travis Kelce, organized an event called The Great Lombaby Games at the University of Cincinnati, which pitted athletes against academics in various competitions. One of the games had participants dive into pools filled with Skyline chili—an iconic Cincinnati dish.
Tragically for Kelce, his Super Bowl ring took an unexpected plunge into one of the chili-filled pools and was never recovered. “I legitimately lost my Super Bowl ring in this event,” Jason said on his J podcast episode. “They could not find it. We have still yet to find it. All of this stuff has now been thrown away, so I think we can safely assume that my Super Bowl ring is now in a landfill someplace in the Cincinnati tri-state area. I didn’t think that would happen.”
Last year, one ring from former Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham sold for $80,000.
Kelce stated his theory: “The only thing I can think of is that at some point, the sock got kicked out of the three-way, made its way out of the pool, and was thrown out in some shape or form. The Super Bowl ring is officially gone. We’ve already put the insurance claim in, and I think the insurance company might have some things to say about whether they’re going to cover that.”
Jason retired this year after losing to the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, led by his brother Travis, last year.
Throughout his career, Kelce earned numerous accolades, which include six first-team All-Pro honors. Nonetheless, the Super Bowl LII victory stands as his sole championship triumph and makes the lost ring even more significant to him. However, given the $90 million he has acquired throughout his career, he should be able to replace it well.
