Former aide to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) accused him of sexual harassment through a series of tweets on Sunday.
Lindsey Boylan worked for the Cuomo administration from March 2015 to October 2018. She was the executive Vice President of Empire State Development and special advisor to Cuomo for economic development. She claimed that while working for the governor, he would often make inappropriate comments regarding her physical appearance.
“Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched. I could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks. Or would it be both in the same conversation? This went on for years,” Boylan wrote in a tweet.
“Not knowing what to expect what’s the most upsetting part aside from knowing that one would do a damn thing even when they saw it,” continued Boylan. “No one. And *I know* I am not the only woman.
Boylan gave no details about the alleged harassment and tweeted that she had “no interest in talking to journalists” because her “second worst fear is having to talk about and relive this.”
Boylan is currently running for Manhattan borough president after she lost New York’s 10th Congressional District to Rep. Jarrold Nadler (D) in November.
“If people weren’t healthy afraid of him, they’d be saying the same thing and you’d already know the stories,” she claimed in a series of tweets earlier this month. “Seriously, the messages and texts I receive when I speak the truth about this…it’s a whole book of people who have been harmed.”
Boylan also stated that she “tried to quit three times” before leaving her position in his administration and that “working for him is endlessly dispiriting”. She is still “unwrapping it years later in therapy.”
Cuomo’s office denies Boylan’s claims.
