The Foo Fighters are scheduled to embark on a summer tour of the U.S. and Canada. This will be the first set of performances since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Pearl Jam’s Matt Cameron and Angels & Airwaves’ Atom Willard are set to fill in for Hawkins. Another source said that the band has been working with several drummers over the past months. When they narrowed the selection down to Cameron and Willard, they began rehearsals at Studio 606.

Hawkins died last March from cardiac arrest in his hotel room in Bogotá, Colombia, just hours before he was set to perform. Although no cause of death was officially released, a urine toxicology report showed that he had benzodiazepines, opioids, antidepressants and THC in his body. According to an autopsy, the drummer also had an enlarged heart, which may have contributed to his death.
In December 2022, the band posted a statement promising that they would continue to perform. “Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were – and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward,” they wrote.
The Foo Fighters’ first performance will be in Gilford, New Hampshire on May 24. The tour will end on September 17 at Asbury Park, New Jersey.
