Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Denies Wearing Lifts In His Boots, Refuses To Try On Shoes When Challenged By Podcaster
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) denied he wears lifts in his shoes despite heavy online speculation.
In an interview on Monday, podcast host Patrick Bet-David asked DeSantis about the rumor as he showed the 2024 Republican hopeful images from a viral TikTok video of DeSantis in his boots, where the creator wrote, “Tell me he’s not wearing hidden heels.”
DeSantis insisted that he wears “standard, off-the-rack Lucchese Boots.”
Bet-David cut DeSantis off to ask him his height, to which DeSantis replied he was 5’11”.
Bet-David then pointed out DeSantis is never seen in tennis shoes or dress shoes, and DeSantis said he wears tennis shoes when he works out.
The podcaster then said that he had bought DeSantis a pair of shoes at Ferragamo earlier.
When presented with the shopping bag, DeSantis responded, “I don’t accept gifts, I can’t accept it. I’m sorry.”
DeSantis responded to the rumors again in an interview with conservative commentator Eric Bolling on Thursday, and asserted, “This is no time for foot fetishes, we’ve got serious problems in this country.”
He continued, “I know Donald Trump and a lot of his people have been focusing on things like footwear. I’ll tell you this: if Donald Trump can summon the balls to show up to debate, I’ll wear a boot on my head!”
Research has shown that Americans tend to prefer taller presidents, likely due to a perception that strong leaders can better protect us.
A spokesperson for DeSantis responded with a statement, “The governor doesn’t pad his boots.”
DeSantis has struggled to gain traction in the race. Recently, a photo of a tiny crowd at one of his Iowa events went viral.
