Flavor Flav is currently in the midst of a legal battle for unpaid royalties with his former group Public Enemy and it’s frontman Chuck D.
According to the rapper, the group has not paid him the full amount he is owed for having his voice and likeness on their latest album Nothing is Quick in the Desert, which was used without his consent. The 58-year-old also claims he hasn’t gotten any money from merchandizing royalties or performance fees either.
Chuck D has responded to the lawsuit, saying he’s open to hearing what Flav has to say. “Flav HAS HIS rights, but took a wrong road on this,” the rapper said. “People can lighten up on Flav,” he later tweeted, showing no ill will toward his band mate. “It’s his new mgt that vengefully felt that suing a 3rd party & connecting me was a good move for him #stupid.”
Additionally, Flav tweeted out, “#ATTENTION EVERYONE!! this is Flavor Flav speaking himself,,,I love my partner Chuck D everyone so don’t get it twisted,,we will fix it,!!FF.”
In addition, the rapper is appearing in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, for three fan meet and greets to promote himself. The events will occur at Mama Cimino at 131 N. Wells Street from Sept. 7 through Sept. 9. from 5 pm to 9 pm each day. Tickets are available for purchase at the door for $100. The pizza restaurant will be hosting Flavor Fav’s attempt to promote himself in Wisconsin. They tout that autographs and photos will be available at each event.
