FKA Twigs has taken to Twitter to condemn those launching racist attacks against her on the social media platform as her relationship with former Twilight star Robert Pattinson has made headlines.
Twigs hit back at racist tweeters Sunday. “I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week,” she wrote. “Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it’s unacceptable online.
Twigs followed her tweets up with an Instagram picture of herself that she captioned, “arrow jamaica latina bambina.”
This is not the first time that Twigs has addressed the issue of race and racism. Back in June, the singer admitted that over the course of her life she’s often encountered racism and general insensitivity.
"I never really saw anything wrong with how I looked, it was more that certain people pointed things out to you about yourself. Either your hair's different, or the color of your skin, or your features,” she told Dazed. "Half of my life I've had people staring at me because they think I'm funny-looking and ugly. The other half of my life I've had people staring at me because they think I'm fascinating."
