Chip Gaines, the Fixer Upper star, complained about the lawsuit filed against him on Twitter.
The lawsuit accuses Gaines of fraud and was filed by by his former partners from the Magnolia Real Estate Company.
John Lewis and Richard Clark say Gaines convinced them to sell their pieces of Magnolia Realty for just $2,500 each in May of 2013. They say Gaines told them “there are no assets” and the company is “less than worthless.”
Lewis and Clark are demanding $1 million and their ownership stakes back.
Gaines’ attorney, Jordan Mayfield, dismissed the lawsuit in a statement, saying, “We are confident that these claims will be found to be meritless, and it is disappointing to see people try to take advantage of the hard work and success of Chip and Joanna Gaines.”
On Saturday, Gaines took to Twitter to express his disappointment with his former friends. “Fyi: Ive had the same cell # 15 years.. same email for 20 yrs. No one called or emailed? 4 years later ‘friends’ reach out via lawsuit.. humm,” he wrote.
