Marvel Studios has three films planned for the year, with Black Panther and the long-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War being two of them. The third film, however, Ant-Man and the Wasp, brings back its titular wise-cracking, size-changing hero, and gives one of his friends a suit of her own. Marvel Studios uploaded the first teaser trailer for the superhero flick online on January 30.
Paul Rudd reprises his role as Scott Lang, whose super-heroic antics as Ant-Man will continue. We last saw the character fighting in Captain America: Civil War, and he’ll likely have to deal with the ramifications arisen by his actions in that film while still tending to his young daughter, Cassie. Scott’s mentor, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), designed the Ant-Man suit and, as demonstrated by the trailer, has continued to develop new technology.
Likewise, Evangeline Lilly is returning to reprise her character, Hope van Dyne, who’s Scott’s love interest and Hank’s daughter. In the first Ant-Man, Hope was an active participant in its story, earning her father’s trust. As teased in its ending, Hope will finally inherit the Wasp mantle from her mother, Janet van Dyne. As far as newcomers are concerned, Laurence Fishburne will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bill Foster, a former associate of Hank.
What is Hydra scheming with the technology they escaped with in Ant-Man? Will our heroes save Janet from her perpetual shrinking? July 6 is when Ant-Man and the Wasp will face their next challenge. You can enjoy our first look at the movie below:
