Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac star in a new drama set against the backdrop of what is known as the Armenian genocide.
The Promise, directed by Hotel Rwanda director Terry George, is set in 1914, during the last days of the Ottoman Empire. Isaac’s Turkish medical student Michael and Bale’s American journalist Chris find themselves trapped in a love triangle with Armenian artist Ana, played by Charlotte le Bon.
From the trailer (see below), it appears that Michael gets caught up in the chaos of Constantinople and must flee, with the help of Chris and his family.
There is no official release date yet set for this film.
