First Teaser Trailer Drops For Netflix’s ‘Pinocchio’ Adaptation Directed By Guillermo Del Toro

Netflix confirmed that a new stop-motion, musical remake of the classic fairytale  Pinocchio, directed by Guillermo del Toro, is slated for a December 2022 release and even dropped the first teaser trailer featuring Ewan McGregor voicing Sebastian J. Cricket.

Geppetto will be portrayed by David Bradley, and Gregory Mann will star as the title character. Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and Christolph Waltz will also be lending their voices for this animated film.

Pinocchio, del Torro’s first collaboration with Netflix, takes place in 1930s Italy – a period when fascism is rising and Benito Mussolini is the nation’s prime minister.

“No art form has influenced my life and my work more than animation and no single character in history has had as deep of a personal connection to me as Pinocchio,” del Toro shared in a statement. “In our story, Pinocchio is an innocent soul with an uncaring father who gets lost in a world he cannot comprehend. He embarks on an extraordinary journey that leaves him with a deep understanding of his father and the real world. I’ve wanted to make this movie for as long as I can remember.”
