First Lady Jill Biden’s Claim That President Biden’s Age Is An ‘Advantage’ Stirs Debate

In response to the claim that Joe Biden‘s advanced age is an asset to his presidency, First Lady Jill Biden has faced a strong backlash across social media.

At 81, Biden is the oldest sitting president in U.S. history, and concerns about his decision to seek another term have been raised by voters. In an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Jill, 72, responded to these concerns: “I believe his age is an asset…He possesses wisdom and extensive experience.”

She continued to emphasize the president’s knowledge of world leaders and history and asserted that his thoughtful decision-making makes him the right candidate for the job at this critical moment in America.

Jill defended her husband’s capabilities and highlighted his commitment to his duties beyond the public eye.

“His job doesn’t end when we have dinner together at 7 p.m.,” she explained. “He’s on the phone, and he’s on the phone with leaders of foreign countries, and he’s on the phone with his cabinet or he’s on the phone with somebody who’s lost their home because of a tornado, or going through some personal problem.”

While Biden has made light-hearted remarks about his age when questioned, poll results suggest a different sentiment. A survey conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research in August revealed that 77% of U.S. adults, which included 69% of Democrats, believe Biden is too old to serve as president for another four years.

One individual on X expressed their disagreement, “Jill Biden is more out of touch than I initially believed.” Another person remarked, “It must be wonderful to have such an energetic spouse! Perhaps I should borrow those rose-tinted glasses of yours, First Lady!” A third commentator wrote, “Being the First Lady to Biden must be the most challenging role right now.”

Despite the criticism, Jill remains devoted to her husband of 46 years and firmly believes in his ability to fulfill his responsibilities. “I witness Joe in action every day,” she affirmed. “I observe his vitality, his drive, and his unwavering passion as he travels across the country.”

When asked about the possibility of another four years in the White House if her husband were reelected, Jill expressed her readiness to endure another campaign. “As Joe often says, our democracy and fundamental freedoms are at stake,” she declared. “I think, as Joe says, democracy, are freedoms are what’s on the line and so Americans have a choice, they can have strong, steady leadership, someone fighting for democracy or they can choose chaos and division.”

Biden assumed office at the age of 78 in January 2021. Were he to serve a second term, he would be 86 by its conclusion.

In the same interview, Jill defended her stepson, Hunter Biden, from “cruel” GOP attacks.
