Billy Ray Cyrus‘ ex-wife, Firerose, alleged the singer made her feel like a “prisoner” during their marriage.

During an interview with Page Six, Firerose, 36, accused Cyrus, 62, of being an “evil man” and said she was a victim of domestic abuse throughout their two years together.

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer previously claimed that Firerose “physically, emotionally and verbally abused him.” She has now attempted to change the narrative by explaining Cyrus’ attempt to control her life by implementing “rules” to follow.

“Billy had very strict rules,” she said. “I didn’t have a car. I was only allowed to go to the local chiropractor and allowed once a month to get my nails done.” The Australian singer called it “systemic isolation” and said she “couldn’t find the courage to leave.”

Firerose said her friends and family were not welcome at their home. “If I had to send a text, I had to read it out to him for permission,” she said. “It was the same for email.”

In Tenessee court documents filed last week, Cyrus denied these allegations and claimed that she was the abuser in the relationship, accusing her of going after his wealth.

Firerose also opened up about her recent diagnosis with the BRCA1 gene mutation, which puts her at high risk of developing breast cancer. She said she was kicked out of the former couple’s Tenessee home on the same day she was scheduled to undergo a double mastectomy.

Cyrus denied rumors claiming he “abandoned her” before her surgery. Now, he and Firerose are in the midst of a bitter legal battle.

“This is a smear campaign by the person I was deeply in love with for four years and in a relationship with and who has decided to wage full-blown war against me,” Firerose said.

One of Firerose’s close friends told Page Six, “I’m one of the only friends who was aware of the verbal, emotional and psychological abuse Firerose has endured by Billy, as she was completely isolated and afraid of sharing what she was going through with others. As a victim of abuse myself, she felt comfortable confiding in me of her experiences and I could tell she was becoming worn down.”

Cyrus and Firerose met at a Hollywood studio in 2010, while Cyrus was still married to ex-wife Tish Cyrus. Firerose said Cyrus tracked her down ten years later and asked her to duet with him on a song.

The ex-couple began dating in 2021, though Firerose said Cyrus asked her not to make it public. Tish filed for divorce in 2022, which Firerose claims came as a shock to her.

“I would never ever have entered into a relationship with a married man, but he was such a great manipulator.”

Now that their separation is in motion, Firehouse said she feels “brighter” and is currently staying with friends in Tennessee. She and Cyrus will appear in court again on Monday.
