Finding Dory, the sequel to the massively successful Pixar film Finding Nemo, will follow Nemo’s forgetful friend as she goes in search of information about her past.
Disney Pixar Studios president Jim Morris, while attending the Comic-Con Experience in Brazil, offered up some plot points for Finding Dory. According to Morris, Finding Dory will pick up a few months following the events in Finding Nemo with Nemo, Dory and Marlin all living together on the same reef. During a school field trip, Dory starts to have flashbacks of her past, leading her to set off on a journey to California to find her parents with Nemo and Marlin in tow.
Ultimately, the gang will end up at the Marine Biology Institute of California, where Dory learns she was born and raised before getting released into the wild as a kid fish. At the institute, Dory and her pals will meet a slew of new characters, including an octopus, sea lions, and a beluga whale.
Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks are confirmed to reprise voicing Dory and Marlin, respectively, though it’s unknown who will replace Weeds actor Alexander Gould as Nemo. Joining the cast for the sequel are Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton, who will voice Dory’s parents. Modern Family actor Ty Burell will voice a beluga whale named Bailey.
Finding Dory is scheduled to hit theaters on June 17, 2016.
