Fifty Shades of Grey won’t hit theaters for another month, but it has already won the title of Fandango’s fastest-selling R-rated movie.

Fifty Shades Of Grey Beats Fandango Records

The highly anticipated adaptation of the best-selling novel will be released on Feb. 13 in preparation for Valentine’s Day, and fans are flocking to Fandango, a movie-ticket website, to ensure they get to see the film. Fandango has sold more advance tickets for Fifty Shades of Grey in one week than any other film, including Gone Girl and The Hangover Part II. Furthermore, Fifty Shades of Grey is now the best-selling first week of ticket sales for a non-sequel since The Hunger Games in 2012, though it failed to break the record.

“It’s tracking to be Fandango’s fastest-selling R-rated movie of all time. …Fans of the book have been waiting for years to see their favorite sexy characters come to life on the big screen, and they are clearly fueling our sensational advance sales,” said Dave Karger, Fandango’s Chief Correspondent, in a statement.

Fifty Shades Of Grey R-Rated

Fifty Shades of Grey was recently awarded an R-rating by the MPAA. The organization cited “strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity” as reasoning for the rating. The film is expected to push the envelope when it comes to sex onscreen.

Fifty Shades of Grey stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson and hits theaters Feb. 13.
