On Wednesday, federal judge Beryl Howell in Washington, D.C., ruled that Rudy Giuliani was liable for defaming two 2020 Georgia election workers.
Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss of Atlanta sued former President Donald Trump‘s lawyer for wrongfully telling George state officials that they had committed election crimes to keep Trump out of office.
Despite evidence from multiple investigations that debunked any election fraud myths, Giuliani continued to promote the conspiracies at the expense of Freeman and Moss.
Howell ruled that Giuliani’s actions warranted a trial for “defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, civil conspiracy and punitive damages claims.”
Political adviser to Giuliani, Ted Goodman, said in a statement that Howell’s decision served as “a prime example of the weaponization of our justice system, where the process is the punishment.”
This is only the latest in a string of legal woes that Giuliani is currently facing. He is being sued by Dominion Voting Systems for a “viral disinformation campaign” about the 2020 election and is facing disbarment for attempting to defraud the United States government.

Giuliani was also included in Trump’s latest federal indictment as an unnamed co-conspirator. Trump was charged in August for illegally plotting to overturn the 2020 election.
A trial date for Freeman and Moss’ case against Giuliani has not been scheduled.
Giuliani is also facing a sexual harassment lawsuit by a former employee.
