The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this week an Adderall shortage.
The prescription drug is used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy.
The problem is due to manufacturing issues affecting Teva Pharmaceuticals, the largest supplier of Adderall in the U.S, the FDA said last week.
According to the agency, the company is experiencing “ongoing intermittent manufacturing delays.”
Other companies produce the drug but not enough to meet the U.S. market demand, the FDA added.
Teva told Bloomberg in August this year that the company was having problems with supply disruptions, citing specific issues with the packaging capacity.
The FDA advised patients to work with their healthcare professionals to find other treatment options.
Adderall has also been known to by widely abused among high school and college students.
