The Federal Bureau of Investigation sparked outrage among supporters of former President Donald Trump after arresting investigative reporter Steve Baker.

Barker, who worked for conservative news outlet Blaze Media, was arrested on Friday for his actions during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to a court filing, Baker’s current charges include unlawfully entering a restricted building/grounds and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.

A video posted to X by Blaze Media shows Baker’s arrest.

Supporters of Trump and his movement, Make America Great Again, expressed their outrage at the FBI.

Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) also commented on the situation.

“The Biden regime just arrested journalist Steve Baker for covering Jan. 6. Free Press is dead in America when the government jails journalists who refuse to report the regime’s political agenda and lies,” she wrote on X.

Other MAGA supporters agreed with Greene’s statement, saying the arrest was an attack on free speech. Many conservatives expressed their contempt for Baker’s arrest, saying that he had simply done his job as a reporter.

Others questioned Baker’s involvement during the Capitol Hill riot, agreeing with the FBI.

Following the arrest, Baker posted to X that he turned himself in to the authorities where he would be transported to a courthouse in Dallas.

“They didn’t have to go this route, as we’ve been told that my charges are non-violent misdemeanors,” he wrote.

In August, Trump was charged with trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The case is currently on hold while the Supreme Court considers questions around presidential immunity.
