Authorities are investigating a homicide at the home of actor Ron Ely, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Lt. Erik Raney, on Tuesday night, the sheriff’s office received a call regarding family conflict at the actor’s home in Hope Ranch, California.
Upon deputies arrival, they found an elderly woman dead from seeming stab wounds. Her husband, whose speech was hindered because of a medical condition, said that another family member was involved in the stabbing.
The identities of the victim and suspect have not yet been released.

“We wanted to make sure all the residents were safe while we searched the area,” Raney said. “We had initially called in the air support unit and neighboring law enforcement agencies to come help in the search and when we were able to locate the suspect on the property of the homicide, and after the confrontation, we lifted the shelter in place. We don’t believe there is any further threat to the public.”
While deputies were searching the property, they came across the suspect. Reportedly, the suspect was threatening the deputies, but they fired shots and took the suspect down.
“We don’t know exactly how many shots were fired. We did have several deputies that were involved in the shooting. Fortunately all of our deputies are ok,” Raney said.
At this time, no additional information is available for release, as this is an active and ongoing criminal investigation.
