The Root's Questlove
In the middle of 21 Savage‘s performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, a rumor went around that someone at the picnic was carrying a gun and a stampede broke out.
Along with 21 Savage, performers like Black Thought, Questlove and Lil Baby were at Roots Picnic at the Mann Center in Fairmount Park. The picnic itself had over 25,000 attendees, which was the largest number ever.
The Philadelphia Police reported that around 6:30 p.m. on June 1 a concert goer shouted that someone had a gun at Fairmount Park, which caused the music to stop and attendees to stampede for the exits.
During the stampede, people ended up jumping over each other and kicking down fences, in an effort to flee the picnic. The stampede became so intense that four people received minor injuries and one person was left with a broken leg. However, no gun was ever found and no one was arrested during the picnic. After an hour, the concert at Mann Center and the picnic itself continued.

An attendee at the Roots Picnic told CBS Philly that the security guards weren’t checking bags. Fairmount Park is much larger than Penn’s Landing, where the picnic has been held in the past.
In a tweet, one of the attendees shared what exactly the outbreak of the stampede in the middle of 21 Savage’s performance was like.
