EXPECTING: Adele Pregnant With First Child
British pop singer Adele, 24, announced today that she is expecting her first child with fellow Brit boyfriend Simon Konecki, 36. Following an eventful year marked by throat microsurgery and her record-breaking second album 21, Adele broke the happy news on her blog. “I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together,” she wrote. “I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time.”
The baby news comes after recent reports that the young singer was feeling broody and even had a list of names picked out already. "It's a huge turnaround for Adele who’s always said she wants to wait until she’s at least 30 and has five albums before she thinks about a family. But now they have their big pad in the country with ample bedrooms, she’s keen to fill it with babies," a source told the Daily Star in March.
Konecki, who is also co-founder of the U.K. bottled water company Life Water and CEO of the Drop4Drop charity, has another child from a previous marriage to stylist Clary Fisher. The proud father-to-be is also apparently prone to nicknames such as The Waterboy and Swampy, which is “probably due to my long hair and lefty views,” he told People last January.
The low-key couple has been dating since last summer. Adele first addressed their relationship in January of 2012 in a rare blog post: "Everyone in our lives separately and together wish us nothing but the best, and vice versa."
In the meantime, Adele’s sophomore record continues to amass awards and has sold approximately 9.3 million copies to date. But the infamous crooner professed that she is never going to write another breakup record: “I’m done being a bitter witch,” she claimed in an interview to Vogue earlier this year.
