In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actress Sonequa Martin-Green revealed what she learned from acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman while filming the dark comedy My Dead Friend Zoe, which follows Merit (Martin-Green), a U.S. veteran who is haunted by the ghost of her best friend who died in combat. When her estranged grandfather (Freeman) is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Merit must care for him while she tries to get herself back on her feet. Martin-Green enthusiastically shared her experience working with Freeman on set with uInterview founder Erik Meers: “Well, I tell you, Morgan came in and snapped right to it, right, he came in and kind of razzed everybody, and I think it was good for us, because I think we needed to settle down a little bit, you know, and not be so caught up in the fact that, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s Morgan Freeman.’ I certainly had to be directed to give him some attitude. It’s like, ‘This is not Morgan Freeman, you’re going to have to forget about that for a second, because he needs to get some attitude from you.’ It was a gift, to put it simply…every moment was a gift.” My Dead Friend Zoe is now in theaters.
