Carolyn Everson, Facebook’s VP Global Marketing Solutions, didn’t mince words when asked at New York Advertising Week about WhatsApp founders Brian Actum and Jan Koum, who have been vocal about the speed at which Facebook is monetizing their platform. “I would personally like to hear more about their philanthropy,” Everson said. “Advertising is not at odds with people. Facebook bought WhatsApp from Actum and Koum in 2017 for $19.3 billion.
