In November 2019, Dr. Bruce Hensel, 74, a former TV doctor of NBC, was arrested and charged with contacting an acquaintance’s 9-year-old daughter and asking her to send him sexually suggestive photos.
Investigators with the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant in Hensel’s house where they found messages between the girl and “a person believed to be Bruce Hensel” between March and August of 2019.

At yesterday’s hearing, Hensel pleaded no contest to the felony charge of contacting a minor for a sexual purpose. By pleading no contest, Hensel accepted the charges but did not admit guilt. He was sentenced to two years probation and must register as a sex offender, according to Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson.
During the hearing, Hensel said he is, “terribly sorry for what happened, I’ve done everything I can to understand this isolated thing.”
The girl’s father, who previously had said Hensel “crossed the line and violated the vow of your profession, which is to cause no harm,” later offered Hensel his forgiveness and hugged him.
