Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada is engaged to Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford.
Just weeks after Lozada announced that she and Crawford were expecting their first child together, the baseball player got down on one knee – much to Lozada’s surprise
"I'm overjoyed and in complete and utter shock!" Lozada told People. "What a different year and a half it has been – I'm truly happy!"
The tumultuous year and a half Lozada mentions includes her short-lived marriage to football player Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. After just two months, she divorced him, alleging that the athlete had been abusive. In a court filing, Lozada claimed that Johnson had given her a laceration to the forehead by head-butting her. Photographic evidence of the gash, led to a judge admonishing the former NFL star in court.
Now in happier times, Lozada is starting a new family, although she “wasn’t expecting a proposal at all” and was taken “by surprise,” according to her rep. Lozada shared a picture of her engagement ring on Instagram with the simple caption, “YES!”
Crawford had the stunning 14.5-carat ring designed for Lozada by Jason of Beverly Hill CEO Jason Arasheben. Lozada thanked the jewelry designer on Instagram, sharing another photograph of the massive rock. “Thank u so much @jasonofbh for this BEAUTIFUL DESIGN!!!!! #HappiestGirlInTheWorld," she wrote.
"Carl has been a longtime client of mine and I knew immediately that he was really smitten and in love and wanted to make a statement that would light up the Christmas tree as well as the bride-to-be," Arasheben told People. "His face just lit up when he saw it. You could tell they're very much in love. He was excited and nervous."
