Evan Rachel Wood flipped off ex and alleged abuser Marilyn Manson at a concert on Saturday, days after he appeared on stage at Kanye West‘s Donda event.
The 33-year-old actress performed a cover of the New Radicals’ 1998 song “You Get What You Give” with Zane Carney at the Bourbon Room in Los Angeles.
In a clip of the concert posted to Instagram, Wood says: “I’ve been saving this but it seems like the appropriate time,” before starting the song and garnering cheers from the crowd.
The song’s bridge references 52-year-old Manson. “Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson/ Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson/ You’re all fakes/ Run to your mansions/ Come around, we’ll kick your asses,” she sang.
As Wood reaches his name in the song, an audience member support her with a “come on,” another fist pumps, many clap and cheer for her, and she proudly brings her arm out in front of her to give the middle finger.
The West World actress has been a longtime advocate for domestic abuse victims and had even used her own experiences with domestic abuse as testimony in support of California’s 2019 Phoenix Act. But, it wasn’t until February that Wood named Manson as her abuser.
In an Instagram post she wrote, “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”
Wood’s relationship with Manson first went public in 2007 when she was 19 and he was 38. They were engaged in 2010, but broke up later that year.
Wood is one of at least 15 women who have come forward with stories of Manon’s abuse. These women said that Manson coerced, intimidated, psychologically and sometimes physically abused them and sexually assaulted them. Manson has denied the allegations.
