Eva Longoria Says America ‘Is Going To Be A Scary Place’ After Trump Victory
Eva Longoria has shared her disappointment at Donald Trump’s victory in this year’s presidential election.
“The shocking part is not that he won,” she told Marie Claire. “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office. I would like to think our fight continues. If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”
Longoria is no stranger to politics. Last summer, the actress campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris and rallied volunteers with Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minnesota).
After the 2020 election, Longoria posted an apology on X, then known as Twitter, for understating black women’s role in President Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 election.
The remark, made in an MSNBC interview, recognized the strength of women of color but rejected black women’s massive impact on Georgia by calling Latina women the “real heroes.”
Longoria posted a screenshot of her notes app to apologize for her comments. She explained that she wanted the statement to indicate that Latino women were community heroes over Latino men, not black women.
On Sept. 23, she walked the runway at the “Le Défilé L’Oréal Paris—Walk Your Worth” show during Paris Fashion Week.
