The first images of Eva Green in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For have been released, along with a full-length trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Sin City (2005).

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is, like its predecessor, based on graphic novels by co-director Frank Miller, who helms the films alongside Robert Rodriguez. Violent, racy and extremely stylized, Sin City became a cult hit when it was released in 2005, and the neo-noir tone and aesthetic found in the original film continue in the sequel.

The film follows Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba) as she deals with the aftermath of Jon Hartigan’s (Bruce Willis) death in the first film. Alba isn’t the only actor from the original reprising her role. Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Jamie King and Willis will also appear in the film. New to the cast are Josh Brolin, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven, Christopher Meloni, Ray Liotta and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who play new characters, and Jamie Chung, who will take over the role of Miho from Devon Aoki.

Green plays Ava Lord, a character that first appeared in a Frank Miller graphic novel titled A Dame To Kill For published in 1993, and is described as a deadly femme fatale.

“We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green,” Rodriguez and Miller said in a statement announcing the casting.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will be released in theaters Aug. 22, 2014.
