‘Euphoria’ Star Angus Cloud Dies At 25, Mother Reported ‘Possible Overdose’
Euphoria actor Angus Cloud died at 25 years old in his home in Oakland, California, on Monday.
His family released a statement sharing the news. “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” they wrote. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”
No cause of death has been revealed, but the statement suggests that Cloud was struggling with his mental health, especially since the death of his father in early July.
“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss,” the statement continued. “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”
The statement concluded, “We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
It was reported that Cloud’s mother called 911 at 11:30 a.m. on Monday for a “possible overdose” after she found her son without a pulse. When first responders arrived, they pronounced him dead at the scene.
Cloud, whose birth name is Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, recently celebrated his 25th birthday on July 10. He grew up in Oakland, California and has family in Ireland. He attended the Oakland School for the Arts with Euphoria co-star Zendaya.
He was best known for his role as the drug dealer Fezco or “Fez” in Euphoria since 2019 and many of his co-stars and friends have sent their condolences to the family.
Storm Reid posted a video of a scene featuring Cloud and Maude Apatow with the caption, “The tears just won’t stop.”
Javon Walton, who acted as Fez’s little brother Ashtray, commemorated Cloud by sharing a photo of the two of them hugging while writing, “rest easy brother.” In addition to this, he added a photo to his story with them both smiling and the caption, “forever family.”
The official account of Euphoria tweeted a statement Monday night alongside a black and white photo of Cloud that reads, “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
Euphoria was Cloud’s first acting role and he was discovered while walking down the street in Brooklyn by the casting agent. He recalled the event saying, “I definitely thought it could be some kind of scam,” in an interview with iD.
Since the start of his acting career, he has also starred in the films North Hollywood and The Line. He was working on two new projects when he died.
