ESPN's Erin Andrews Files $10 Million Lawsuit

Erin Andrews, 33, ESPN's sideline reporter and former Dancing with the Stars alumna, has re-filed a lawsuit totaling $10 million in damages over the peephole incident that made her an Internet viral sensation three years ago.

In 2008, Andrews was unknowingly filmed in the buff at several hotels in different states by stalker Michael Barrett, who was later apprehended, convicted of interstate stalking, and sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of probation.

In 2010 Andrews filed a $4 million lawsuit for invasion of privacy against Barrett, plus a $6 million suit for negligence and infliction of emotional stress against the West End Marriott Hotel at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, according to USA Today. At the time, she also filed against six other entities, where peephole indicents also allegedly occurred. Her argument was that the hotels had revealed information about Andrews' whereabouts within the hotels, leading Barrett to find her and record her on his mobile device.

Now Andrews has consolidated her lawsuits in accordance with jurisdictional limitations that might otherwise make her initial suits invalid. "The original case was non-suited to try to get all of the cases in the various states joined together under the jurisdiction of one court which has not been able to be resolved," Andrews' attorney, Mary A. Parker, said, reports The Huffington Post. "Our year for re-filing was about to run, so we re-filed, but only against the entities that are clearly jurisdictional in Tennessee. All original allegations against those entities are exactly the same," she added.
