Erykah Badu took to the stage during the 2013 BET Awards for a rendition of “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” with Kendrick Lamar and to perform “Q.U.E.E.N.” with Janelle Monae.
After performing “M.A.A.D City,” Lamar, who won best new artist during the awards show, brought out Badu as a special guest on "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe." Lamar’s set, from top to bottom, was his best live performance to date, and one of the most talked about from the awards show. Badu’s presence on stage beside him elevated the track off his Good Kid, m.a.a.d city album to an exciting new level.
Badu’s performance of female anthem “Q.U.E.E.N.” with Monae closed out the show. Monae’s forthcoming studio album, The Electric Lady, will include the rousing duet with the Grammy-winning Badu.
Badu performed solo during the 2013 BET Experience at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Friday at the Centric Soul Stage. She’s also been hitting up the summer festival concerts this year, including New York City’s Governor’s Ball and Ruisrock Festival in Finland. Badu is currently working on a new album, but she’s yet to announce an expected release date.
