Erin Andrews’ Awarded $55 Million Settlement For Stalker’s Nude Video

Erin Andrews, ESPN reporter was just awarded a $55 million settlement for the pain and suffering after being videotaped naked in a Nashville hotel room in 2008.

After a video was released of the ESPN reporter naked and was shared over the internet, a jury heard Andrews’ testimony and awarded her the hefty settlement. Andrews had originally asked for $75 million in her civil case vs. West End Hotel Partners, which operates the Marriott at Vanderbilt. The case was also against Michael David Barrett, who tampered with her hotel room’s peephole to record a video of her while she was in her hotel room. Barrett then posted the video online.

“I feel really guilty he didn’t know me before this happened and to try to explain to someone who has questions about why I have trust issues, why I’m insecure, why I’m embarrassed; he doesn’t understand,” Andrews said on the stand last week of the incident’s effect of her relationships.

The jury found Barrett 51% to blame and the hotel the remaining, meaning Barrett needs to pay out approximately $28 million in damages while the hotel is ordered to pay $26 million.

He was also sentenced to two and half years in prison after he was found guilty of stalking Andrews. He also explained that he booked the room next to Andrews in order to record her.

Andrews took to her social media to thank the jury and the courts for their decision.
