Eric Trump ‘Comes Out’ In An Interview Slip-Up, LGBT Twitter Users Mock Him Mercilessly
Eric Trump is being roasted by LGBT+ users of Twitter after “coming out” on an interview Tuesday. He has since stated that it was an accident, and that he was paraphrasing an LGBT+ friend, but that hasn’t stopped Twitter.
Most Twitter users immediately understood that Trump’s statement was a mistake, and jokes about rejecting him began quickly.
Eric Trump saying he’s “part of the LGBT” community is like me saying I’m part of the fantasy football community. I might think I know what a “tight end” and a “wide receiver” are, but I would be sorely mistaken.

Others mistakenly believed Trump’s statement was sincere, especially because of the way it was quoted in the media.
Some people praised Trump for having the bravery to “come out,” others declared that it didn’t change their negative opinions about him.
Congrats to Eric Trump for coming out… I think? https://t.co/Opp4iZCssN

It sounds like Eric Trump just came out. I will never vote for his father but I am glad he can live his life openly now. https://t.co/SSLXSuIHpb

Eric Trump is fucking asshole who steals money from kids with cancer. Don’t really care if he is gay or straight.

The vast minority of the posters were people who actually tried to clear up the misunderstanding, as most people on Twitter seemed to appreciate the touch of humor it brought to the political scene.
Eh, Eric is clearly quoting someone from the LGBT community – the "I'm part of that community" line is coming from the hypothetical person he talked to.

When Eric Trump says “I’m part of that community and we love the man” he’s clearly quoting the LGBT people who talk to him about his dad but I’m in the mood for chaos…so carryon https://t.co/ZLJ3ZqcKrF

Trump himself eventually confirmed through The Post that, no, he is not gay, or even bi.
“To clarify, many of our close friends are part of the LGBT community, which was the intent of my statement,” Trump said. “As to me personally, as I think you know, I am a happily married man to my wife, Lara.”
Nonetheless, Twitter is continuing to enjoy Trump’s misspeak, and the jokes about it don’t look like they’re slowing down just yet.
