Eric R. Holder Jr., the man convicted of Nipsey Hussle’s murder, was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison during a court hearing on Wednesday.
Last July, after a legal battle that dragged on for three years, a jury determined Holder guilty of first-degree murder for fatally shooting the Grammy-nominated rapper in March 2019. According to the prosecution, Holder shot the beloved rapper and entrepreneur for allegedly calling him a “snitch.”

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke sentenced Holder to 25 years to life for the murder of Hussle and an added 25 years to life enhancement for using a firearm. Holder was also sentenced to 10 years for two charges of attempted voluntary manslaughter for shooting two men accompanying Hussle on the day of his murder.
“I am very mindful of what was presented as to Mr. Holder’s mental health,” Jacke stated ahead of Holder’s sentencing. “I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two.”
Herman Douglas, a close friend and witness to the rapper’s killing, laughed as Holder was escorted out of the courtroom, singing, “Hit the road, Jack, and don’t you come back no more.”

The shooter was identified to be John R. Lyons, 24, of Westchester, Illinois.
