Country star Eric Church just did a ‘Beyonce‘ and surprised his fans by dropping an entire new album completely out of the blue.
Back in December 2013, Queen Bey shocked her legions of fans when she released her self-titled, third album without any prior warning, creating a media firestorm. Church appears to be attempting to recreate that same publicity but is going about it in a more old school fashion.
Rather than sharing his surprise new record, Mr. Misunderstood, online or in stores, Church decided to mail physical copies of the album to members of his fan club. The fans received the gift free of charge and had no idea it was coming their way. Diehards had come to expect an album from the country crooner every three years or so but he released his latest record, The Outsiders, just a year and a half ago, further adding to their surprise.
The Outsiders debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming his second album to do so. The record went on to achieve platinum status and receive several Grammy nominations.
Church has given no statement on the move and has yet to set an official release date for Mr. Misunderstood.
