Finally, the Entourage movie has been green-lit. Series creator Doug Ellin wrote the screenplay and will direct the film, which is being produced by Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, Deadline reports.
The popular HBO series followed movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his childhood friends E (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) and Vince's agent, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) as they made their way up and down the ranks of Hollywood. Entourage ran for eight seasons, concluding in September 2011. Deals with the main cast are in their early stages.
Entourage was a smash hit during its original run. The series received 26 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including three wins for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Jeremy Piven 2006, 2007, 2008), as well as 14 Golden Globe nominations, with one win (Piven 2008).
In addition to its regular cast of characters, Entourage consistently featured cameos from Hollywood stars to go along with the show's supporting players Rex Lee (Lloyd), Beverly D’Angelo (Barbara), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Sloan), Perry Reaves (Ari’s wife), Rhys Coiro (Billy Walsh) and Scott Caan (Scott). We can only hope the whole gang agrees to reprise their roles for the feature film. — Hal Sundt
