Trai Byers and Grace Gealey, who star together on Fox’s hit series Empire, reportedly got married over the weekend.
Byers, 32, and Gealey, 31, tied the knot in a quiet ceremony inside of a mansion on Grand Cayman Island, reported TMZ. The couple only invited their close friends and relatives. Members of the Empire cast were not among the roughly 50 attendees.
Following the ceremony, the reception included a steak and lobster dinner and hip-hop, disco and reggae music for dancing.
Gealey took to Instagram Sunday to confirm the marriage, writing, “We’re married! God is so good. To all who have extended congrats and well wishes, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Love, Mr. & Mrs. Byers.”
Byers had proposed to Gealey last year after falling for her on the set of Empire. Talking about getting into a relationship with a costar, Gealey said it wasn’t something that she had pursued lightly.
“I think that if two people are mature and they’re able to understand that if this doesn’t work out—’cause first, I’m not a fan of flings when you work, cause that’s where it gets a little dangerous,” Gealey said on FabLife. “I think that if you do get involved at your workplace, you have to know that this is something that you want to be invested in, and this is just not just something that is frivolous and fleeting.”
