It was a very special Christmas for Empire star Terrence Howard. The 49-year old popped the question to his ex-wife Mira Pak on December 23 at a Beverly Hills restaurant while surrounded by family and friends.

The Oscar-nominated actor and Pak split secretly in July 2015. However, just two months later, the couple were seen walking the Emmy red carpets together. In October of that year, they kissed at a charity event. The two have a set of boys together, three-year-old Qirin and two-year-old Hero.

“We have an idea of how long we think life is, but we do know how short it can be,” Howard said in an Instagram post on Sunday night. “It took me 45 years to find you … But now that I have you in my 50th year, I will spend the rest of eternity at your side. And I pray that everybody finds that one that will complete them for all eternity because it means everything. I love you.”

Pak’s engagement ring is a 7-carat diamond and rose gold ring estimated to be in the $1 million range. Jeweler Ben Baller posted a video of it on his Instagram.

Though the two previously divorced, they appear ready to fix their relationship. “Mira settled me,” Howard told People in 2017. “Relationships are hard work, but we really don’t fight,” Pak said at the time.
