Emma Stone is set to play Cruella de Vil in a live-action movie, adaptation of Disney’s live-action 101 Dalmatians. She was chosen for the role because of her unparalleled similarities in appearance between her and her villainous counterpart.

She has even drawn comparisons to Glenn Close both for how she prepares for a role and because they have both been selected to play Cruella. The comparison might be right, as Stone has shown her versatility in a variety of films.

Though she is most known for playing the amicable love interest in romantic movies, she has range. In The Help, she portrayed Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan, the eager aspiring journalist who recounts the story of several black maids, in a time where barely anyone even acknowledged them. Stone is, however, unusually sweet, sometimes even gullible, in most of her roles, so it will be interesting for fans to see her more wicked side.

She was almost unrecognizable, being spotted recently, channeling her new look. She cut her hair and colored it darkly, most likely for her part as Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes.

Not much has been revealed about the Disney live-action movie, including the plot and release date. There is speculation that it will be made public roughly when The Jungle Book 2 will open, which will be somewhere between July next year and December 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Around that time, the studio will also open Tim Burton’s Dumbo, a Mary Poppins sequel starring Emily Blunt; and a Tinker Bell feature with Reese Witherspoon.
